Our story

Andean Adventure —our roots, our language

Andean Adventure leverages the extensive expertise of its founder, Angela A. Véliz. Angela previously co-founded, managed, and developed a travel business for over a decade, acquiring a wealth of knowledge and a deep dedication to the hospitality industry. This new venture distinguishes itself through lessons learned from past experiences and a refined perspective on what truly defines the noble and enriching nature of the hospitality industry. This experience has motivated her to continue serving the industry by collaborating with both new and established partners throughout the Andean Region.
At Andean Adventure, we develop a menu of itineraries meticulously designed for our guests to travel through the magnificent Andean mountain range, its valleys, and adjacent ecosystems. Andean Adventure also serves as a consolidator of small and micro businesses, local families, local governments, regulatory entities, and communities to design its itineraries holistically. These stakeholders form an extensive service chain, well coordinated to provide guests with unparalleled destination experiences.

We are honored to welcome you as our guest.

Angela Veliz Rivera Galapagos

About Our Founder

Angela is an Ecuadorian-American creative designer, experienced traveler based in Brookline, Massachusetts. Her heritage and multicultural upbringing, encompassing the coast of Ecuador, the Andean Highlands, and the Galápagos Islands, have instilled in her a deep appreciation for her roots, cultural peculiarities, folklore, and natural diversity.

Angela’s beloved aunt Eva —Dios la tenga en su gloria— the sweetest woman she's ever met, used to call Angela andariega —wanderer— and for a reason. Angela used to show up at her house at 6 a.m. during fruit harvest time in the Highlands of Ecuador, when she was just fourteen years old, alone, with no chaperone, and after a 9-hour bus drive. February was the best month of the year, lots of peaches and apples to eat, and a lot of work at the orchard and the kitchen. It was heaven! She can still smell the fresh morning dew.

From these early experiences, including working in her family’s micro businesses, Angela served as a volunteer in the Andean Highlands, teaching English to children in a rose plantation. Later, she lived in Argentina and traveled to different countries in Latin America and Europe. After her early exploratory endeavors, at a young age, Angela formed a family and was blessed with two wonderful girls. Today, Angela is dedicated to the management of Andean Adventure, its creative and internal operations. Angela's purpose is to continue working hand-in-hand with local partners to make each trip a memorable experience from which both cultures can learn from each other. So, you can also savor the fruits of our land and walk through the places I grew up and adore, and maybe find yourself enjoying the morning dew as well.

Our Principles

Andean Adventure lives by integrity, a guiding light in our honest actions with local communities, governments, and our work as a trusted US travel operator. Excellence anchors our thoughtfully designed trip planning, creating unforgettable journeys to Machu Picchu, the Amazon, and beyond from vision to victory. Our hospitality, our core strength, welcomes you like lifelong friends, making every moment warm and authentic through our principled actions, not vague ideals. Here is our foundation:

Integrity

Integrity in the decisions we make internally and externally. We prioritized our travelers' safety and their integral role as a temporary visitor of national reserves, natural parks, and conservation areas in the places we operate. At the same time, we continuously collaborate with our partners to promote a transparent experience economy that reasonably benefits the stakeholders involved. We equip our guests with comprehensive destination information, adhering to travel guidelines and local customs for travel.

Excellence

Excellence in all we do and what we strive for in our daily operations, in our relationships with our guests and with the communities and local partners that we work with. We are in constant learning mode and improvement, so each guest trip is like no other. We believe your trip planning is the beginning of your new story and we want to lay the foundation for you to write it down as a memorable experience.

Hospitality

Hospitality constitutes our primary strength, and we dedicate our efforts to delivering thoughtful service, fulfilling our guests’ needs, and ensuring thorough preparation for travel experiences from our initial engagement. We are committed to providing attentive care to you and ensuring that travel expectations are aligned with the actual conditions of the destinations you visit. We actively look for ways to take care of our travelers at all times and find flexibility and unique opportunities to make your travel a worthwhile story to tell.

Estefania A.—Ecuador

I’m Estefy—a passionate traveler with a curious soul and a free spirit. My love for discovering the world has taken me across four continents and over 20 countries, including Southeast Asia, South Africa, and much of South America's Andes region. Each destination has taught me something new and deepened my belief that travel is a powerful path to personal growth. I enjoy planning trips just as much as living them—crafting meaningful routes, finding hidden gems, and connecting with the true essence of every place. For me, an incredible journey isn’t measured in miles, but in the moments that leave a mark. I excel at logistics, coordination, and making sure all our travelers are well taken care of. If there’s one thing that defines me, it’s the constant search for experiences that transform and the thrill of turning every adventure into a story worth remembering.

Carlos L.—Perú

I’m Carlos, a 21-year veteran of the travel industry. Born and raised in the heart of the Andes, I grew up surrounded by a rich history, vibrant traditions, and breathtaking landscapes that continue to inspire me every day. I share Cusco’s cultural treasures with global travelers, highlighting iconic landmarks, vibrant traditions, and hidden gems. Specializing in cultural, historical, and adventure guiding, I lead treks like the Inca Trail and Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. For me, trekking is more than reaching Machu Picchu—It is about connecting with nature, listening to stories, and experiencing the Andean way of life. I enjoy transforming every hike into a meaningful journey where travelers feel a deep connection to the land and its culture. As a father of two daughters, family plays a crucial role in shaping who I am. This personal experience has given me a natural ability to guide families with care, patience, and enthusiasm.

Ximena S.—Bolivia

Ximena here—Working in tourism in Bolivia for over a decade has been a transformative experience that has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. Along this journey, I have had the opportunity to host travelers from across the globe, sharing the cultural diversity and natural beauty that make Bolivia such a unique destination. From the vast Uyuni Salt Flats and the serenity of Lake Titicaca to the colonial charm of Sucre and Potosí, every place offers unforgettable landscapes and stories. I focus on coordinating trips that offer authentic experiences, connecting visitors with the true essence of Bolivia. This role has taught me to be adaptable, to solve unexpected challenges, and above all, to value the warmth and hospitality of our people. Beyond a job, I view travel as a means to contribute to the development of local communities, supporting guides, artisans, and families who rely on this activity.

Brian Cobos. —Medical Advisor

With over 6 years of experience as a physician, I’ve always believed that caring for people goes beyond medicine —it’s about helping them stay safe, connected, and fully present wherever they are. My journey as a physician has taken me deep into the Ecuadorian Amazon, near the Peruvian border, where I’ve worked in primary care and emergencies, bringing medicine and education to remote communities. There, I learned that health and travel share the same foundation: preparation, awareness, and respect for the environment. For me, travel is also a form of healing. Each place — humid rainforest, coastal heat, or mountain air — challenges the body differently. Knowing how to adapt, stay hydrated, prevent infections, and respond to changes in altitude or temperature can turn any trip into a safer and more meaningful experience.

Ernesto R. —Chile

I'm Ernesto, a Caribbean-Chilean explorer who chose the Atacama Desert as the backdrop for my life and dreams. Recognized for my professionalism, passion, and deep local knowledge, I combine my training as a physical engineer with my love of astronomy, photography, mountaineering, and Andean culture. Since I adopted these lands as home, I understood that guiding travelers wasn't just a job, but a way to share the magic of a place where the sun, salt, and stars come together in an incomparable terrain. My passion lies in showing the desert from within: its sacred mountains, its immense silence, and its seemingly endless skies. My mission is to make each of my guests have an authentic experience: contemplating the sunrise over the salt flats, listening to Andean stories, learning from nature, and allowing each traveler to discover their own connection with this land.
